Exercise #471: 4v2 Keepaway in a Grid
OBJECTIVE:
This exercise focuses on maintaining ball possession under moderate pressure.
DESCRIPTION:
Using cones, mark a rectangular grid measuring approximately 10x15 yards. Have your players play 4v2 keepaway in the grid. If the four attackers complete 10 consecutive passes or "split" the defenders with a successful pass (i.e., one that goes between the two defenders), then the defenders have to do two quick push-ups before they can resume play. Encourage the attackers to complete as many passes as possible while the defenders do their push-ups. If an attacker loses possession, he immediately trades places with the nearest defender and play continues.
