Exercise #149: Rolling Ball Saves Between Two Players
OBJECTIVE:
This exercise focuses on fitness while reminding the keeper to always "come to" balls to save them.
DESCRIPTION:
A coach should pass a ball between or around two stationary players positioned next to each other with space enough between them for another player to run through. The keeper starts behind the two stationary players, but once he sees the pass be made, he should come forward to the ball, attempting to pick it up on the run and coming in front of the middle players. He then serves the ball back to the coach, and shuffles back to his starting position, keeping his eye on the ball to be ready for the next service (i.e., don't let the keeper turn his back). Balls should be served at a fairly quick pace.

"I really liked your article. I have used this method for a long time with lots of teams I have coached. Your article expressed the tactic very simply and effectively. I am sure it helped a lot of people. It is amazing what being alert to this simple concept can do for a team that finds it difficult to mount effective counterattacks. Nice job!"
