Exercise #184: "Rapid Fire" Shots and Saves
OBJECTIVE:
This exercise focuses on a keeper's reactions and recoveries.
DESCRIPTION:
Scatter a large number of balls around the top of the penalty area. Have a player take shots on the keeper in quick succession, mixing up which balls he uses. Keep the exercise focused on taking shots, not chasing balls. If the keeper deflects a shot but does not hang onto it, the shooter should follow the shot before going on to the next ball. The keeper should focus on recovering those "lost" balls before the shooter can get another shot off.

"I really liked your article. I have used this method for a long time with lots of teams I have coached. Your article expressed the tactic very simply and effectively. I am sure it helped a lot of people. It is amazing what being alert to this simple concept can do for a team that finds it difficult to mount effective counterattacks. Nice job!"
